Two Eagles is a finalist

Just a quick note to mention how excited we are to be a finalist for the 2011 Vancouver Island Business Excellence Awards. We’re also nominated again for another Torch Award, so fingers are crossed!

The Valley Is So Rich With Talent

On Sat, we had the pleasure of again attending the Voices Three concert to benefit Hospice. These three talented singer-songwriters–Judy Wing, Sue Pyper, and Helen Austin–performed to a packed house at the we’re-so-lucky-to-have Sid Williams Theater. They were great, so check out their websites and CDs for a great flavor of the island talent.

In The News

Just got the winter edition of the Loyola University Magazine online edition and Two Eagles Lodge was featured in a great story. Check out

Two Eagles featured in national media

We have great news to share!  Two Eagles Lodge was featured in the October issue of Destinations Travel Magazine ( and also the November issue of  Northwest Dive News Magazine.   Way cool!   You can even see photos of us doing our maiden drysuit dive with UB Diving and the publisher of NW Dive News!   The wolf eel was awesome!

Ready for ski season

Fall may have its share of gray days, but with the changing seasons and ‘moods’ of beautiful Vancouver Island, it’s an awesome place to be. Mt. Washington already has snow, so snow-shoeing we did go…and we took a beautiful drive to Gold River just to savour the “ahhh” along the way.

Love to host events at Two Eagles Lodge

The wedding reception we hosted for Wendy & Rick reminded us just how much we enjoy hosting special events at Two Eagles Lodge.   To share our home with friends and their guests, who often become our friends, who want to celebrate a special occasion, such as a wedding or anniversary, is so rewarding.   We also enjoy doing events for business groups and look forward to our upcoming holiday parties for a group of dialysis nurses and a local dentist’s staff party.    Although hosting events can be a lot of work, it’s a labor of love when you can stand around and enjoy everyone in a great mood enjoying your home.  We spent many hours in Maryland planning our place, form and function being big, but never anticipated being a venue for other people’s events.  When we hosted our first parties and events, including a Chamber of Commerce party for 130 in June 2009, we knew our planning had paid off.  The vision worked, and we felt really good.  Winning the Torch Award from the BBB for the entire island was just icing on the cake.    Thanks to those who have been here and to those who want to host events, workshops, or parties here in the future!

A privilege

With fall now here and a general slow-down in island tourism, it is time to reflect on  another great season here at Two Eagles Lodge B&B.   We met wonderful people from all over the world again this year and enjoyed making great memories with most–from fireside chats and Maryland-style crab feasts to tie-dying and “howling at the moon.”   Kids of all ages enjoyed the horses and chickensNot your typical B&B, eh?!?!?

Just this weekend, we had the privilege of hosting a beautiful wedding reception for friends.

To those who stayed with us in 2010 (or before)–thank you!  To those who are thinking of staying with us–we welcome the chance to meet you and include you among the friends with whom we’ll make great memories in paradise.

We won!

Two Eagles Lodge is the proud recipient of the 2010 Vancouver Island Better Business Bureau “Torch Award” (hospitality industry).   We were one of five finalists and proudly brought the beautiful crystal award back to Union Bay.  Steve and I are so proud.   There was even a very nice article about us in today’s Comox Valley Echo.    The award is especially meaningful since we are just celebrating our third anniversary in business, and there are so many hospitality businesses on the Island–quite the honor, for sure.

Finalist for Vancouver Island Better Business Bureau Award! Yipee!

We just learned last week that we are one of five finalists for the Torch Award–an award given to businesses on Vancouver Island in salute of their commitment to ethical business practices and community.     There were 138 island businesses nominated for 12 award categories, with 52 finalists.  We’ll know next Friday, May 14, if we are the winner in the hospitality category, but the honor of the nomination is a privilege.    Thanks to our guests and business friends who may have nominated us!
