3rd Annual Two Eagles Lodge Tie Dye Party

On the heels of hosting the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce annual BBQ for 75 on June 21, we had our own shin-dig.

We had a great time this weekend with more than 100 people here for fun, food, music, and tie-dying (of course).   It’s fun to see people wear their works of art from previous years’ parties.    Photos to be posted on Facebook as they come in from the gang.

Who can look at someone in tie-dye and not smile?  Be bold and spread the joy!

Gotta love that backroads map!

Steve and I recently got a jeep to explore some of the island’s back roads, and what an amazing experience. We have seen some amazing vistas–perched high above the Georgia Strait and Baynes Sound in the Beaufort Mountains. The photos just don’t do it justice. I don’t have a moment of regret about selling the Harley and getting the jeep, since so much of this beautiful island is accessible only by four-wheel drive. I feel like a kid in a candy shop…and it’s all in my backyard!

our vistas are amazing!

We’re On Facebook. Please “Like” Two Eagles Lodge. Thanks!

Awards again! YIPEE!

We just got word that we are the recipients of another TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for 2012, based on guest comments and ratings. This is on the heels of being awarded two of nine awards at the May 3 Comox Valley Home-Based Business Association’s award ceremony–a merit award and an environmental award. We thank everyone for acknowledging our commitment to making memories and to being a give-back member of the community.

Spring Special

Two Eagles Lodge is offering a spring special for those who want to enjoy a getaway.   Stay two nights ($109 @) and get the third night at half price.  Valid through May 15.  Just mention this blog when you phone 250-335-2342 to check availability.    We’re just 30 minutes to phenomenal snow at Mount Washington, yet our waterfront location will make you think “summer”…come relax with us and watch the eagles soar.

Chamber BBQ a great success

On June 23, Two Eagles Lodge had the opportunity to host the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce’s annual BBQ.   We’re pleased to say that they sold-out two weeks in advance (very unusual) and we had a great time.  As always, Steve and I enjoy meeting new people and making new friends.

We are pleased that our home has worked into being a warm and inviting venue, as an alternative to hotels and commercial spots.

Since we truly feel we own a slice of paradise, it sure is nice to share it!   Thanks to all who came  and enjoyed…to the musicians who played, and to Corae and Laura for coordinating every last detail.   CHEERS!

Great Music & New Friends

As sponsors of the Vancouver Island Music Business Conference, we are privileged to meet some incredible musicians. And, by hosting some of them at Two Eagles Lodge, we get to enjoy more than their music. Just this weekend, we had great meals and fire-side chats (complete with some super guitar playing) from Ralph Murphy, Dan Hill, and Steve Wilkinson.

This coming week, these performers will join others staying in Courtenay to take stage at various venues for what promises to be another incredible music week in the Comox Valley.

We look forward to connecting with our old friends who’ve stayed here for previous conferences, including Ron Irving, Jamie Warren, and Bill Henderson.

While Shari Ulrich is not here for this event, she’s coming to do a house concert on August 11.

Island life is amazing

We live in such a great place.  On Thursday night, after checking in a couple of great guests, we ran to Courtenay to run errands and grab a bite to eat.  Enjoyed some great music from local guitarists/songwriters Anela and Luke while eating at Comox’s newer restaurant, Island Tides, where Kathy works hard to make it all great.   And, it’s worth the drive.

We had a bicycling group here from Oregon, a couple from the Netherlands, and then a couple of new Comox friends who got our donated accommodations certificate at a charity auction and chose to celebrate their birthdays here.  We also enjoyed the company of Jean Pare, the entrepreneur behind Company’s Coming cookbook series.

On Saturday, we bought Rhododendrons at the Rotary sale, and on Sunday, we visited a friend who just got home from triple bypass surgery, and enjoyed dinner at Horne Lake with other great friends.   That’s one you have to check out, too–www.StoneArtAndMosaics.com.  What an incredible artist.  She is doing a floor mosaic for a retirement home in Edmonton, which has more than 500 hand-cut pieces of stone in a beautiful floral pattern reflective of Alberta flora; and her little “gift” pieces–trivets and candle holders–are just awesome works of natural beauty.

Off to work on projects for SmartBiz clients and looking forward to our Chamber of Commerce BBQ on June 23.   Life is good…

Two Eagles Lodge Wins Again…and we’re so proud!

It was unbelievable. On Thursday, we were surprised at the Comox Valley Home-Based Business Association’s awards gala by receiving the “2011 Comox Valley Ambassadors of the Year” award; and on Friday, we went to Victoria for another awards event.

At the Vancouver Island Better Business Bureau’s Torch Award gala, we were the recipients of the 2011 Torch Award for the hospitality/tourism/events industry.

We were blown away, since this is our second year to get this coveted award out of thousands of other hospitality/tourism businesses on the island.

We thank our peers for the HBBA award, and our guests for their nominations for the Torch Award. Wow!

What a way to celebrate our fourth anniversary of business!

The Gala’s theme was “Flashback to the 70s” so the tie-dyes and smiley faces reigned!

Signs of Spring Can Take Your Breath Away

Another beautiful moment at Two Eagles…As if it’s not enough to be awakened by eagles singing, the whinny of my girls in the field (wishing I wasn’t working so I could play) and then to hummingbirds “swarming” in their pre-dusk frenzy…the geese just add another beautiful dimension.
life is good. I hope all of my friends have such beautiful moments in their days! Life is good!!!
